ON THE FLOW OF A VISCOUS ELECTRICALLY CONDUCTING FLUID

Journal Article · · Quart. Appl. Math.
OSTI ID:4828823
The equations governing the steady two-dimensional flow of a conducting fluid whose free stream direction is parallel to an applied magnetic field can be linearized by an extension of the Oseen treatment of viscous flows and reduced to the dimensionless form. The equations will then admit general solutions making an entire class of parabolic fiow problems explicitly soluble in terms of known elementary functions. As examples, flow past a semi-infinite flat plate and flow past a parabolic cylinder were considered. (M.C.G.)
