An apparatus is designed for examining radioactive samples by presenting them in sequence to a counter. The apparatus comprises a counter enclosed in a shield with an aperture, an endless tape for moving the samples past the aperture at a uniform speed, and means for rendering the counter operative when a sample reaches the aperture. The means comprises a microswitch and stops on the tape for operating the switch. A scaler, ratemeter, and recorder are included in the counting circuit. Some of the possible applications of the apparatus are described. (D.L.C.)
