SORTING OF TWO COINCIDENT PULSES ACCORDING TO THEIR AMPLITUDES

Journal Article · · Nuclear Instr. & Methods
Systems are described for sorting coincidences of two pulses according to their amplitudes into channels of an analyzer. The amplitude of pulse A is divided into N amplitude channels and of pulse B into M channels. If the amplitude a of pulse A is in the amplitude channel n and of pulse B in channel m, the event is placed into the T = nM + m channel. The comparator of an amplitude analyzer is replaced by another one, consisting of two amplitude to time converters, which are connected so that either the total time of conversion is proportional to T (with circulating memory), or the number of output pulses equals to T (with ferrite memory). Block diagrams of these comparators are given, and a comparator is described which is used at the Institute"Rudjer Boskovic" with a modified Hutchinson type analyzer. (auth)
