THE STUDY OF THE INTESTINAL ABSORPTION OF I$sup 131$-LABELED TRIOLEIN IN PATIENTS IRRADIATED WITH Co$sup 60$ IN THE ABDOMINAL PELVIC REGION (in Italian)
Using triolein-I/sup 131/, the intestinal absorption of neutral fats in subjects irradiated with Co/sup 60/ on the abdominalpelvic region was studied. It was observed that in the large majority of cases the irradiation leads to impairment of the absorption. While this impairnaent appears only towards the end of the treatment in some patients, in others it appears half-way. In some of these latter subjects it tends to deteriorate while in others it regresses; finally, there is a limited number of patients in whom the absorption, which was altered at the start, improves on irradiation. In general, the intestinal absorption presents almost normal values approximately two months after the end of treatment. (auth)
