From titration data obtained for the reduction of ruthenium(IV) perchlorate with vanadium(II) sulfate, the electrode potentials of Ru(IV) and Ru(III) were calculated. The existence of a state with oxidation number 3.5 was confirmed. In the polarographic reduction of Ru(IV) in perchloric acid solutions three waves were observed and the dependence of the half-wave potentials on pH was determined. Both monomeric and polymeric Ru(IV) species were studied. (auth)
