THE FINANCIAL ASPECTS OF NUCLEAR INSURANCE (in French)

Journal Article · · Energie nucleaire
OSTI ID:4827928
An insurance premium reduction would help to make energy of nuclear origin competitive with conventional power sources. An estimate is made of the place that insurance premiums hold in the working costs of an atomic power plant. The complex problems presented by nuclear insurance are reviewed, namely: difficulty in the evaluation of the entire amount of the premiums; problems concerning their distribution among the insurance pools; the establishment of reserves; and the payment of indemnities (e.g., ancertainty as to the frequency of the accidents to be covered, third party injuries, and damages caused at the installation). Various measures are proposed that coald facilitate the solution of these problems. (auth)
