The Mechanism of the Extraction of Several Uranyl Salts by Tri-n-Butyl Phosphate

The extraction of several uranyl salts (nitrate, chloride, perchlorate, sulfate, acetate, and phosphate) by TBP was studied. The formation of the complexes UO₂(NO₃)₂(TBP)₂, and UO₂(ClO₄)₂(TBP)₄ was confirmed by partition study and infrared study. The influence of acid concentration on uranium extraction was discussed, especially for the system UO₂(ClO₄)₂-HClO₄TBP. The order of the extractabilities of the uranyl salts was compared with that of the acids.
