MACHINING OF SUPER-ALLOYS AND REFRACTORY METALS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4825995
A review is presented of the machining properties of superalloys and refractory metals. The superalloys consist of chromium, nickel, and iron as base metals with cobalt, molybdenum, tungsten, titanium, and aluminum present in groups of two or more to form the different alloys. The refractory metals include niobium, molybdenum, tantalum, tungsten, and their alloys. A comparison is given of service temperatures for these alloys with other space-age:metals. (B.O.G.)
