Application of Magnetic Measurements to the Study of Effects of Irradiation; APPLICATION DES MESURES MAGNETIQUES A L'ETUDE DES EFFECTS D'IRRADIATION

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4825841

Two magnetic phenomena which can be used in the study of irradiation effects are (l) magnetic coupling hysteresis of diffusion and (2) orientation superstructure. Neutronirradiated iron exhibits a coupling hysteresis band, the site of the band depending on the neutron dose. A polycrystalline alloy of Fe-- Ni was irradiated in the Melusine in the presence of a 2500 oersted field. The anisotropy energies vary as a function of the neutron energy. After irradiation the anisotropy continues to evolve even at room temperature. The results obtained are shown graphically. (J.S.R.)
