LEPTONIC DECAY OF THE $lambda$$sup 0$-HYPERON

Journal Article · · Nuovo Cimento (Italy) Divided into Nuovo Cimento A and Nuovo Cimento B
OSTI ID:4824838
Two apparent cases of LAMBDA /sup 0/ decay with e/sup -/ as a secondary are reported. An emulsion stack exposed to the magnetically separated K/sup -/ beam of the Berkeley Bevatron was scammed systematically for V events. Both V events consisted of only two outgoing tracks, that of a proton and an electron. No visible primary track could be associated with either of the V events. Results are presented in tabular form. Due to the high observed pB of electrons in each case, it is assumed that the events represent neutralparticle decay. Neutron decay is excluded on kinematical grounds; therefore, LAMBDA /sup 0/ decay must take place in the moden LAMBDA -- p + e/sup -/ + nu -bar/sup -/, unless the decay of an unknown particle occurred.
