ALPHA-DEUTERON MODEL OF THE Li$sup 6$ NUCLEUS AND THE Be$sup 9$(Li$sup 6$,/ cap alpha/)B$sup 11$ REACTION

The angular distributions of the particles emitted in (Li/sup 6/, alpha ) and (Li/sup 6/,d) reactions are calculated under the assumption that they are stripping processes. An alphadeuteron model of the Li8 nucleus is used. The Coulomb effects of the interacting particles and the nuclear interaction between the outgoing particles are neglected. The derived formulas are compared with the experimental data of Leigh and Blair on the differential cross sections of the Be/ sup 9/(Li/sup 6/, alpha )B/sup 11/ reaction. The general shapes of the calculated angular distributions are similar to those of the experimental data, but there is a lack of agreement between theory and experiment at large angles. (auth)
