ABS>A process is outlined for preparing pure Nb/sub 2/O/sub 5/ from an aqueous solution containing Nb compounds in anionic form and compounds of metals of the III, IV, V, and VIII groups of the periodic table, particularly Fe. The process comprises contacting the solution with an anionic exchange resin and eluting the sorbed metals with anqueous NaCl solution; Fe is eluted before Nb, and the resin is regenerated. An example of the process is given in which Nb/sub 2/O/sub 5/ of spectrographic purity was prepared from a HF solution containing Nb, Ta, Fe, Mn, Ti, Si, Cu, Al, and Sn. (D.L.C.)
