THE ELASTIC SCATTERING OF 180 MEV PROTONS FROM NUCLEI

The differential cross sections for elastic scattering of l80 Mev protons from lithium, beryllium, carbon, aluminium, calcium, iron, indium, and gold were measured up to large scattering angles. Particular care was taken to obtain good energy resolution. The results were compared with the calculated scattering from an optical model potential with different radial extensions of the real and imaginary terms in both the central and the spin-orbit parts of the potential. Qualitative agreement was found. (auth)
