Absorption spectra of aqueous solutions of bis- acetylacetonethylenediamine, chloride, neodymium, and their mixtures were studied. Complexing between neodymium and bis-acetylacetonethylenediamine ions was observed, and it was found that between pH 1.0 to 7.0 the complexing occurs without splitting protons from the bis-acetylacetonethylenediamine molecule. It is shown that neodymium ions react with bis-acetylacetonethylenediamine to form one complex compound with a stability constant of 3.2 x 10/sup -2/. The neodymium ion coordinates one bis-acetylacetonethylenediamine molecule. The possibility of complex compounds of neodymium and bis-acetylacetonethylenediamine is postulated. (R.V.J.)
