Fabrication and application of a Bi{sub 2}Sr{sub 2}Ca{sub 1}Cu{sub 2}O{sub x} (Bi-2212) superconducting magnet have been developed. The cryocooler-cooling type of Bi-2212 superconducting magnet, which consists of pancake coils prepared using silver-sheathed Bi-2212 tape, with a room temperature bore of practical size has been fabricated. The magnet has stably operated at magnetic fields over 0.92 T, and has proved its potential for realization of alternating magnetic fields at relatively low frequencies. On the other hand, Bi-2212 solenoid superconducting coil has been fabricated employing a rectangular wire. This type of coil is expected to have an advantage of high homogeneity in magnetic field which is required for a NMR magnet.
