ANPP CODE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, PRESSURIZED WATER TASK, QUARTERLY PROGRESS REPORT NUMBER SEVEN

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4820847
Progress for the seventh quarter of the ANPP Code Dovelopment Program is reported. The logical fiow diagram for the burnup program, SYBURN, was completed. Seven of the required 21 subroutines were completed and checked out; an additional six subroutines were written. SYNFAR was used to analyze 12 clean, critical cores. Use of the diffusion theory option resulted in K-eff; approximately 1.5% low; use of the SN option resulted in a maximum error of 0.8%. Neutron lifetimes for several cores were calculated; values were th the range of 4 to 5 mu sec. The clean core experiments were completed. Several cores, including Core 454, were rebuilt to utilize the latest experimental techniques or to obtain more consistent data. An investigation of basic pulsed neutron techniques was thitiated in an attempt to improve agreement between period and pulsed neutron reactivity measurements. (auth)
