A large number of fluorods, from 71 to l37 at a time, were exposed simultaneously to a homogeneous 2 Mvp x-ray beam. The fluorods were placed in a large water phantom, 5 cm below the surface of the water, at the center of a 20 x 20 cm field at a TSD of 100 cm. This method of exposure assured an equal dose to all fluorods in each set. Six sets of fluorods were so irradiated with measured doses ranging from 155 to 2795 rads. The standard deviation for the 6 sets ranged from 5.2 to 9.5% of the mean dose. It was concluded that no statement can be made concerning the accuracy of a single fluorod measurement. For each dose determination several fluorods must be used and the average dose value determined. For a standard deviation of 6%, it can be shown that the average measurement of 4 fluorods is required to achieve an accuracy of 5% with a 90% confidence limit. (P.C.H.)
