GAMMA AND PHOTOLUMINESCENCE OF ALKALI IODIDES

Gamma and photoluminescence of CsI and KI crystals were studied. Excitation spectra of the ultraviolet emission bands were measured. It is shown that these emission bands lie in the exciton absorption region and that activator luminescence is not excited in this region for the case of Csl-Tl. The nature of these alkali iodide luminescence bands is discussed. (auth)
