An analytical method is described for the analysis of oxygen in samples which contain no fluorine or boron, by means of activation with fast neutrons. The nondestructiveness and the fivefold increase in speed over the conventional Unterzaucher method are shown. With neutron source strengths readily available from Cockcroft-Walton accelerators (l00 neutrons per second), a sensitivity of 0.032% oxygen is obtainable. At an oxygen level of l%, the accuracy of the method is plus or minus 17%. (auth)
