LEVELS IN A$sup 38$ OBSERVED THROUGH THE Cl$sup 37$(p,n)A$sup 37$ REACTION NEAR THRESHOLD

Thin Cl/sup 37/ targets were bombarded with monoenergetic protons, the over-all proton energy resolution being about 1.7 kev. A long counter was used to observe neutrons from the Cl/sup 37/(p,n)Ar/sup 37/ reaction at energies up to 0.8 Mev above the reaction threshold. The widths and spacings of 9l resonances were measured. A gross structure was discerned, believed to be related to a neutron independentparticle state near the neutron separation energy. (auth)
