CONTRIBUTION TO THE THEORETICAL STUDY OF THE EFFECT OF THE COULOMB FIELD IN INTERNAL BREMSSTRAHLUNG ASSOCIATED WITH $beta$ DECAY (in French)

An attempt is made to avoid the approximations used previously and to treat in a complete fashion the effects of the nuclear Coulomb field in the internal bremsstrahlung associated with beta decay. It is shown that in the transition amplitude a summation over the intermediate states of the electrons including both discrete and continuous spectra occurs. This summation can be avoided by introducing the Green function for the wave equation of an electron in the Coulomb field. The Green function is put in the form of a sum of multiple Dirac operators by scalar radical functions. In an analogous manner, the final wave function of the electron is expressed in terms of Dirac operators acting on a free particle spinor. The transition probability can thus be evaluated by the classical method of traces. Numerical results of the application of these calculations to the case of S/sup 35/ are given. (J.S.R.)
