In order to evaluate the biological conditions existing previously to the construction of Ispra-I, an ecological survey was made. It is presented in the following parts: statistic and demographic survey on the population of Ispra, Cadrezzate, and communities surrounding the Center of Nuclear Studies of Ispra; observations on the fauna in the area of Ispra, with particular reference to the fauna of venatorial interest; basis populations of the Lake Maggiore, with particular reference to plankton and fishes; and observations on the floristic- agronomic and health-phytologic conditions in the area of Ispra. Thus, it will be possible to evaluate the possible future modifications caused by the different radioactivity sources. (auth)
