Thermodynamic properties of an electron gas are considered using the method of the statistical model hamiitonian. Contributions to the thermodynamic functions from the special class of the Feynman diagrams, corresponding to the infrared divergence of higher order (after Gell-Man and Brueckner), are calculated. The approximation is justified in a strongly degenerate electron gas of high density, and in a classical gas of low density. Also considered is the effect of local inhomogeneities (impurity centers) on the dynamic properties of the system. Physical consequences of the results obtained are discussed. (Referat. Zhur.
