THE SETTLED BED FAST REACTOR STATUS REPORT
S>A status report is presented concerning the development of fast reactor systems utilizing fuel in the form of particulate solids cooled by direct flow of Na through a settled bed of such fuel. The emphasis in the investigation is on the reactor and its internals since this is the area that settled bed reactors differ from Na-cooled solid fuel reactors. Research and development is reported on the carbide fuel program, mechanical design, heat transfer and fluid dynamics, stability reactor physics, and economics. Characteristics of the reactor are presented tabularly. (J.R.D.)
