THE EFFECT OF A MAGNETIC FIELD ON FREE CONVECTION HEAT TRANSFER

Journal Article · · Intern. J. Heat and Mass Transfer
Free convection heat transfer due to the simultaneous action of buoyancy and induced magnetic forces is investigated. The analysis is carried out for laminar boundarylayer flow about an isothermal vertical plate. lt is found that the free convection heat transfer to liquid metals may be significantly affected by the presence of a magnetic field; but that very small effects are experienced by other fluids.
