A process was developed for extracting complex metal anions from an acidic aqueous solution by contacting it with a mixture consisting of a primary or secondary alcohol and a liquid which is substantially insoluble in water and with a higher dielectric constant than the alcohol. The alcohol should have a sufflcient number of carbon atoms in its molecule to make it substantially insoluble in water. Eight examples are given for this process. The extractive power of the alcohol is increased by the use of a diluent with higher dielectric constants. (M.C.G.)
