NOTE ON THE AXISYMMETRY OF AN ELECTRODELESS DISCHARGE

The vacuum electric field in an electrodeless discharge configuration is found to be strongly nonaxisymmetric. The polarization of the gas inside the coil, however, completely corapensates the nonaxisymrnetric component, thereby producing an axisymmetric field. (auth)
