TENSILE PROPERTIES OF COMMERCIALLY PURE NIOBIUM AT LOW TEMPERATURES (in Spanish)

Journal Article · · Anales real soc. espan. fis. y quim. (Madrid), Ser. A
OSTI ID:4817769
The tensile properties of commercially pure niobium were studied by means of an autographical tensile machine of great accuracy and sensitivity. Experiments were made at +20, -78, and -190 deg C, using specimens of several grain sizes with their surfaces either untreated, oxidized, or anodized. The ductile-to-brittle transition as not observed in the untreated specimens. The oxidized specimens proved to be brittle at liquid air temperatures, while the anodized specimens are ductile. (auth)
