ISOTOPE EXCHANGE AND ISOTOPE EFFECTS IN THE REACTIONS OF ORGANOLITHIUM COMPOUNDS. Technical Progress Report

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4817761
A study of the infrared spectra of t-butyllithium was undertaken. The spectrum of t-BuLi/sup 7/ mulled in Nujol showed bands at 580, 522, 479, and 415 cm/sup -1/ whereas the spectrum of t-BuLi/sup 6/ mulled in Nujol showed bands at 608, t-butyllithium was investigated. The decomposition of secbutyllithium was investigated and 1-butene and two iso meric 2-butenes were identified. Attempts to obtain crystals of t-butyllithium were unsuccessful. (M.C.G.)
