The Scaler Ms Str 473/1 was developed for measurements with self- quenching Geiger-Mueller counter tubes. It satisfies requirements for higher than those generally stipulated for precision measurements with GeigerMueller counters. In general these requirements refer to high HT stsbility over a lengthy period, that shall be reached even under strong mains fluctuations, a resolution adapted to Geiger-Mueller counters, and sensitivity. During practical design, solutions were sought that employ a minimum of tubes and other components and of which high reliability may be expected. The equipment circuitry is explained and the fundamental ideas set forth, measuring methods for checking the equipment properties are described in detail, and useful hints for using the equipment and the employment of accessories given.
