Emulsion and bubble-chamber statistics for the determination of track density

Journal Article · · Il Nuovo Cimento
DOI:https://doi.org/10.1007/BF02785754· OSTI ID:4817586

The likelihood function (P) is given as a function of the coefficient of the exponent of the gap-length distribution function. From P the exponential coefficient is calculated and the statistical accuracy determined. lt is also shown how, with a given amount of experimental data, the maximum statistical accuracy may be achieved in the determination of the track density.
