A rapid, accurate, spectrophotometric method for the determination of lron is descrlbed. It is particularlv applicable for the determination of iron in hlgh-purity vanadium, chromium, titanium, niobium, tantalum, and tungsten metals; aluminum-vanadium alloy; titanlum -aluminum --vanadium alloy; uranium monocarbide; and compounds of these metals. The method is applicable over a wide concentration range 0.0001 to about 2%. Accuracy and precision data are presented for iron at various concentration levels in different materials. A determination can be made within 1/2 hour after dissolution of the sample; therefore, lt can be applled to control analyse s. (auth)
