The accuracy of track location in triggered spark counters
Studies were made of the accuracy with which the spark in an air-filled triggered spark counter reproduces the trajectory of the triggering particle. For a single counter, the rms displacement is 1.54 mm, and the median displacement is 0.4 mm. Using a 6-layer counter and a large displacement cut-off technique, the rms error of track location is reduced to 0.38 mm, and the median displacement to 0.2 mm.
