NEUTRON-ACTIVATED WIRES PLOT FLUXES IN YANKEE CORE

Journal Article · · Nucleonics (U.S.) Ceased publication
OSTI ID:4815843
An activation-wire system for mapping neutron fluxes in the Yankee core is described. The wire system is part of the speciai in-core instrumentation, which also includes a network of 27 thermocouples that measure temperatures of outlet water. By activating steel wires in the core, Yankee operators verify calculations of power distribution, burnup, and best control-rod position so they can improve performance. Wire activation movement and counting can be controlled either manually or automatically. (N.W.R.)
