STRONTIUM-90 AND CESIUM-137 IN CANADIAN WHEAT (1957-1959)

The concentrations of Sr/sup 90/ and Cs/sup 137/ were measured in Canadian wheat grown in 1957 and 1958 and in wheat exported in 1959. Mean values ranged from 103 to 136 mu mu c Sr/sup 90//g Ca and from 26 to 46 mu mu c Cs/ sup 137//g K. The ratio of Sr/sup 90/ to Ca in flour was found to be lower than that in whole wheat by a factor of 3.3. (auth)
