The effect of pH in the radiation chemistry of aqueous solutions is studied in the light of primary processes. In developing the basic idea of the theory of radical diffusion, the possibility of the capture of electrons by H/sub 3/O/sup +/ leading to a change in the spatial distribution of H atoms formed in the first place is discussed. The solutions of the differential equation of the ionization cluster'' for different initial distributions are combined for each product of the radiolysis of water as a function of pH, whereas the coefficient coming from the combination of solutions is connected with the concentration of H/ sub 3/O/sup +/. The theoretical yields are in good agreement with the known experimental results. (tr-auth)
