A process is given for recovering uranium values from a material. The process comprises producing a solution of said material in above 8 M mineral acid, treating said acid solution with a reducing agent to place the uranium in the +4 oxidation state, contaeting the reduced solution with an alkyl amine organic solvent-diluent extractant phase to ex tract the uranium therein, contacting the extract phase with a water phase to extract the uranium therein, and treating the water extract with an aqueous fluoride solution to precipitate a uranous fiuoride salt therefrom.
