DETERMINATION OF BERYLLIUM WITH A DIRECT-READING SPECTROGRAPH

Journal Article · · U.S. Geol. Survey. Profess. Papers
OSTI ID:4814034
A spectrographic method was developed for determining beryllium quantitatively and rapidly in concentrations ranging fronm a few parts per million to a few percent in a large variety of silicate rocks and beryllium ores without special attention to the types of samples being analyzed. The spectrograph is a grating spectrograph having a reciprocal linear first-order dispersion of about 5 A per ml and may be used either for photographic or photoelectric recording. The beryllium 3l3l.07 A line was selected for the analysis. Silicate rock and beryl concentrates, chemically analyzed for beryllium, were used to prepare standards covering a concentration range of 0.00026 to 4.22% beryllium. (M.C.G.)
