The shape factor of the main BETA transition in Au/sup 198/ represented well by the formula C = STA1 + g(W/sub 0/- W)!/sup 2/ with g = 0.034 plus or minus 0.004 and W/sub 0/ = (962 plus or minus 1) kev. The investigation is carried out with an intermediate-image spectrometer (resolution: 2.5%) and vacuum-evaporated sources. (auth)
