DOUBLET SPLITTING IN THE 1p SHELL DUE TO TENSOR INTERACTION

Journal Article · · Physical Review (U.S.) Superseded in part by Phys. Rev. A, Phys. Rev. B: Solid State, Phys. Rev. C, and Phys. Rev. D
The separation of pa3/2 and pi1/2 orbitals in N/sup 15/ due to the tensor force was estimated using second-order perturbation theory. The estimated splitting of 5.6 Mev is to be compared with an experimental separation of 6.3 Mev. General relationships needed in computing the doublet splitting due to tensor interaction in nuclei with a closed shell plus or minus one nucleon are developed. (auth)
