NUCLEAR SUPERHEATER FOR BOILING WATER REACTOR
The reactor comprises an enclosed pressure vessel having two distinct operative regions, one being a boiling region and the other being a superheating region with nuclear fuel elements disposed in each region for heating by a fission reaction in each region. A liquid moderator is maintained in the vessel at a predetermined level to generate vapor in the beiling reglon and produce superheated vapor in the superheating reglon in a continuous path. The liquid moderator is force-circulated through the boiling region in parallel to and counter to the flow of vapor through the superheating region. The boiling region is arranged adjacent the peripheral wall of the vessel and the superheating region is arranged in the center of the vessel.
