Seventeen papers are included which were presented at the 1961 University Subcritical Assemblies conference, whose purpose was to review the status, significance and service of various subcritical assemblies for college and university research and teaching programs in nuclear science and engineering. Separate abstracts were prepared for 15 of the papers; the other two are a summary of the conference and a banquet address on the relationship between the national laboratory and the university.
