A pipe joint such as that described in British Patent 849,123 is improved in order to minimize the thermal effect on the joint due to a sudden change in the temperature of the conveyed fluid. The joint comprises two hollow members with plane surfaces held in contact by internal clamping means having a thermal expansion coefficient different from at least one of the members and being arranged to be contacted by fluid flow through the members.
