An analysis was made of proton-nucleon showers in order to determine the relationship between angular and energy characteristics and the multiplicity. The conditions (n/sub b/ + n/sub h/ < 1, and absence of recoil nuclei) were used as selection criteria. All events were classified by multiplicity. The number of (N) interactions within each group, the half angle ( THETA /sub 1/2) and geometric average ( THETA /sub g/) angle are tabulated. The data show that the angular distribution of shower particles expands with an increase of multiplicity. The results are in good agreement with published data obtained by H. Winzeler at 6.5 Bev. (R.V.J.)
