ANALYTICAL STUDY OF HEX SHAPE FABRICATION

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4810090
Information obtained from an analytical study of the fabrication of the composite hex shape is presented. Nominal die size data for Projects l0l and l02 and a description of the calculation method are included. The effects of tolerances on dies and component parts, and variations in the diameter of the tube roller were analyzed using statistical methods. Two proposed methods of bonding and their known inherent difficulties and limitations are summarized. The thermal stresses induced in the composite hex. shape and the coefficient of thermal expansion of the composite are also calculated. (auth)
