A fuel element design for operation in gas-cooled reactors at 500 to 600 deg C is presented. lt eomprises endstacked clusters of sheathed fuel members located at their ends in support structures, their other ends being free to expand longitudinally; a graphite sleeve encloses and supports the fuel cluster assembly. Provision is made for lifting and lowering the fuel element into the reactor. (D.L.C.)
