Trichloroethylene-saturated Water and Tetrachloroethylene Chemical Dosimeter Systems-neutron Response

Journal Article · · Health Physics
The response of the trichloroethylene-saturated water system was found to be dependent on neutron energy at 1 to 14 Mev. However, the response to fission neutrons with spectra of different degrees of degradation appears relatively constant. Measurements of neutron dose with this type of dosimeter can be made, subject to the limitations of the subtractive method, the experimental error, and calibration for neutron sensitivity. The low sensitivity to fast neutrons of the tetrachloroethylene dosimeter makes it valuable for the measurement of gamma -dose in a mixed radiation field. Both types require suitable shielding from thermal neutrons.
