THE STABILITY OF VISCOUS FLOW BETWEEN ROTATING CYLINDERS IN THE PRESENCE OF A STRONG AXIAL MAGNETIC FIELD. Scientific Report No. 5

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4808220
The problem of the stability of viscous flow between rotating cylinders in the presence of an axial magnetic field is discussed within the framework of the small-gap and R2-R1 is very much smaller than 1/2(R1 + R2). The nature of the problem is shownof to depend very markedly on whether the cylinders rotate in the same or in opposite direetions, and the various approximations applicable to these two cases are discussed. Special attention is given to the limiting case of a sirong field as omega-2/omega-1
