TESTS CARRIED OUT ON ORGANIC CATION EXCHANGE RESINS FOR THE DECONTAMINATION OF AQUEOUS RADIOACTIVE EFFLUENTS

Journal Article · · Health Physics (England)
OSTI ID:4807877

Results are presented from tests on the effectiveness of organic cation exchange resins for the decontamination of aqueous radioactive effluents having low anion concentrations. The resins were in fixed-bed columns and were regenerated by NaCl solutions. The activity was recovered in a volume of eluent which was, on the average, 20 times smaller than that of the radioactive waste. This smaller volume was efficiently decontaminated by a two-stage ehemical treatment. A flowsheet for a sample decontamination is included. (C.H.)
