COULOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF RARE-EARTH ELEMENTS AT CONTROLLED POTENTIAL. Progress Report, February 20, 1961-February 20, 1962

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4807613
The polarographic investigation of Sa and Nd is reported by use of an acetonitrile solvent containing tetraethylammonium perchlorate (TEACl/sub 4/). The results on polarographic reduction of these elements are sufficiently encouraging to warrant continuation of the study by further coulometric work. If these studies are successful, consideration will be given to the use of acetonntrile-TEACl/sub 4/ system for reduction of thulium. In other work, development of a precise wide-range direct-reading coulometer is reported for current-flow integration during controlledpotential electrolysis. Initiation of a study on the design of a time-sequence sampling differential polarograph is also reported. (J.R.D.)
